Senior Tax Manager

Overview

A leading private equity firm is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join its growing tax team. This role will focus on partnership tax matters across the firm’s investment funds and management company structures. The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of experience with a strong background in partnership taxation, preferably with a mix of public accounting and in-house experience within asset management or private equity. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with internal investment teams, finance leadership, and external advisors on complex tax matters related to fund structures and transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings for private equity funds, investment vehicles, and management entities
  • Oversee partnership tax reporting, including allocations, capital accounts, and Schedule K-1 reporting for fund investors
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and accounting firms on compliance and tax planning initiatives
  • Support tax structuring for new investments, acquisitions, and dispositions across the firm’s portfolio
  • Review partnership agreements and provide guidance on tax-related provisions and implications
  • Assist with investor-related tax inquiries and provide support to the investor relations team as needed
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on fund structures and portfolio investments
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and investment teams to ensure efficient tax reporting and compliance processes
  • Assist with tax planning and special projects related to fund formation, restructuring, and operational improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or advanced tax degree preferred (Master’s in Taxation or JD/LLM)
  • 7–10 years of tax experience with a strong focus on partnership taxation
  • Combination of public accounting (Big Four or large accounting firm) and in-house private equity or asset management experience is ideal
  • Experience working with private equity, hedge funds, or other asset management structures
  • Strong understanding of partnership allocations, waterfall structures, and fund reporting
  • Experience reviewing complex partnership tax returns and investor reporting
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines
