
Debit Card Payment Risk Specialist

Position Summary
As a Debit Card Payment Risk Specialist for Busey, you will be responsible for handling debit card payment exceptions, escalations, and reconciliations related to debit card transactions within established timeframes to mitigate risk. You will also execute and improve upon our growing Debit Card Services, independently analyze, research, and process complex electronic payment exceptions and requests in accordance with applicable operating rules and regulatory guidelines. You will perform outbound calls to clients and internal departments to resolve exceptions, enhancing the customer experience through supporting all services and issues related to Consumer, Business, and HSA Debit Cards. ATM services, including disputes, balancing, and monitoring cash flows, are also part of this position. Good communication skills are required to communicate with partners and clients through email and phone. You may also assist with training new hires in the department and in other departments that support Debit Card Dispute functions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work with Deposit Services, Digital Channels, Information Services, Accounting, Fraud, BSA/AML, vendors, and clients to resolve processing, reconcilement discrepancies, and disputes.
Reconcile debit card General Ledger accounts, process adjustments, returns, and recoveries.
Process debit card fraud disputes and ATM disputes, issuing provisional credit timely in accordance with Federal regulations.
Process funds received from card processor and issue credit to customers per federal regulations; balance Busey settlement account daily for related dispute findings and process appropriate tickets to general ledger accounts.
Monitor ATMs for functionality and positive balances, communicating with appropriate specialists to research, correct, and report variances, and place service calls for ATMs when necessary.
Education & Experience
Knowledge of:
General banking knowledge in the areas of payment, risk, and payment fraud; strong accounting acumen to assist in balancing activities.
Job‑specific knowledge necessary to provide the appropriate quantity and quality of work in a timely and efficient manner.
MS Office tools, including expert knowledge of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
Ability to
Interact effectively with others to establish and maintain smooth working relations demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate responsible personal and professional conduct that contributes to the overall goals and objectives of Busey.
Review and analyze data reports and manuals; be computer proficient.
Challenge the status quo and promote positive change.
Education and Training
High School diploma and/or up to one year of related work experience – required.
Related experience in operations, banking, or payments; payment experience, especially debit card transactions, preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Salary is based on job duties, required qualifications, and relevant experience. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance. (Base Pay Range: $18.50–$25/hour)
