STV is seeking an
Architectural Designer
to join our Buildings team in the heart of New York, NY.
Key Responsibilities
Work with and coordinate an architectural/engineering team to prepare documents for transportation‑focused projects.
Perform the initial design phase and detailed phases of architectural design work for projects requiring interface and collaboration with various disciplines, clients, and consultants.
Prepare architectural plans and/or supervise their execution.
Analyze design and construction systems, planning studies, design layouts, and construction details.
Oversee research used in writing specifications, including coordination with manufacturers.
Conduct site and construction inspections for information gathering, preparing interpretive reports.
Execute code analysis, material selections, and technical solutions.
Coordinate with other disciplines.
Plan, schedule, coordinate, manage, and oversee the work.
Required Experience
Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch preferred).
Experience as a Jr. Architectural Designer within the rail/transit sector preferred but not required.
Transit architecture design experience, including stations and related facilities, not required.
Experience in the transportation sector preferred but not required.
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite (required).
Experience with Rhino, 3‑D Max, SketchUp a plus; LEED accreditation a further plus.
Excellent design, technical detailing, and strong presentation skills, both verbal and visual (essential).
Self‑starter with a passion for problem‑solving; team‑focused with a firm focus on client needs.
Collaborate with multiple design disciplines on technical approach and design criteria.
Work under an architectural lead as part of a team.
Develop design details, plans, and specifications.
Use computer software to solve complex architectural problems.
Contribute new designs or techniques that are materially significant.
Remain current in codes and technologies (IBC, NFPA, etc.).
Ensure conformance with standards, established practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
Fulfill essential job functions consistently and safely.
Essential Duties
Determine collective technical approach and design criteria with multiple disciplines.
Work with architectural staff under an architectural lead in a team.
Develop design details, plans, and specifications.
Use computer software to solve complex architectural problems.
Contribute new designs or techniques that are materially significant.
Remain current in codes and technologies (IBC, NFPA, etc.).
Ensure conformance with standards, established practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
Fulfill essential job functions consistently and safely.

Compensation Range: $66,320.00 – $75,364.00
