Responsibilities This reporter will be on top of breaking news and trending stories each day, sometimes writing multiple pieces per day. They are expected to be among the newsroom’s top pageview producers, creating quick videos for almost every story and, when appropriate, producing video-only stories. The reporter will need basic reporting skills, including accessing public records, building sources, conducting interviews, and finding and interpreting data.

They will analyze analytics, Google Trends, and social channels to identify hot topics and audience resonance. They will also request user-generated content from social channels and other avenues. Artificial Intelligence will be used as a tool to enhance reporting duties. The reporter will localize national and state stories for our audience and may collaborate with other reporters and editors to create alternate URLs from existing stories. Occasional field reporting and coverage of major breaking events (e.g., hurricanes, tent‑pole events) are expected. Work may include Tuesdays through Saturdays.
