Position: Technical Writer
Location:
Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD
Leidos is seeking a skilled
Technical Writer
to support the
US Army CECOM Warfighter Readiness program . In this role, you will develop, edit, and refine technical documentation that directly supports soldier readiness and sustainment. You’ll collaborate with engineering, logistics, graphics, and provisioning teams to transform complex technical data into clear, accurate, and compliant technical publications.
Responsibilities:
Develop and edit technical content across multiple communication platforms using
XML tagging/editing
and
Army DTD
standards.
Produce documentation in accordance with
MIL-STD-40051
requirements.
Translate complex engineering and logistics data into clear, step-by-step procedures for maintainers and operators.
Review and interpret technical reports such as
LORA, FMECA, PPL,
and
BOM , and convert findings into
MAC
and
RPSTL
documentation.
Collaborate with graphics and provisioning teams to ensure accuracy and consistency across all deliverables.
Evaluate and refine content for proper syntax, style, grammar, and tone to meet military technical publication standards.
Conduct and support verification events to validate documentation accuracy and usability.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or related discipline with 2+ years of related experience. Additional years of experience, training, and/or certifications may substitute degree requirement.
US Citizen; Currently possessing an
Active DoD Secret
security clearance
Proficiency with
XML tagging/editing .
Experience working with
Army DTD
and
MIL‑STD‑40051 .
Demonstrated ability to distill complex technical information into clear, user‑friendly procedures.
Ability to read and interpret technical analyses such as LORA, FMECA, PPL, and BOM.
Experience leading or supporting documentation verification events.
Travel Requirements:
Ability to travel up to 25% (CONUS/OCONUS)
