
Service Consultant

Overview
As a service consultant you will be responsible for initiating automotive services and repairs by ascertaining vehicle performance problems and service requests; verifying warranty and service contract coverage; developing estimates; writing repair orders; maintaining customer records. You will serve as the communicator and liaison between the customer and technician; ensuring the customer's needs and the recommended services are understood.
Responsibilities
Ascertain automotive problems and services by listening to customer descriptions, clarifying symptoms, conducting inspections, taking test drives, and checking maintenance records.
Verify warranty and service contract coverage, explain provisions and exclusions.
Develop estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculate customer payment including deductibles.
Prepare repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes; obtain approvals; enter into service system.
Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates, arranging towing and transport, and responding to inquiries.
Maintain automotive records of problems and corrective actions.
Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and industry publications.
Prioritize required services, ensure positive dealership experience, and provide concierge support.
Build relationships with customers.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
1-3 years of automotive service advisor or related experience.
Prior automotive service writing experience.
CDK system experience preferred.
Superior communication and customer service skills.
Excellent follow‑up skills and a positive "can‑do" attitude.
Valid driver’s license and clean record; pre‑employment background check required.
