
Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for assisting the Superintendents in supervising crew, dispersing daily crew work assignments, and participating in the maintenance of the golf courses.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ensures golf course grounds are maintained at pristine, tournament quality conditions
Assists in supervising and training a crew of 20 plus employees
Maintains and directs repairs to irrigation system
Ensures that all fertilizer and pesticide applications are applied and recorded according to the product label
Operates and maintains golf course equipment when necessary
Follows all state and local safety and environmental standards
Other duties as directed.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
Extensive knowledge of turf, soil, fertilizers, pesticides, golf course equipment and irrigation technology
Possess strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
Ability to work flexible schedule and long hours when necessary
Keen attention to detail and strong sense of urgency
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Facilities Maintenance or related field preferred but not mandatory
SC Certified pesticide applicators license or able to obtain one within 60 days.
