Key Responsibilities
Social Media (30%)
– Develop and facilitate the agency’s social media strategy across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Manage UHS social media communities by engaging followers and responding to messages. Identify and cultivate marketing collaborations with statewide partners to amplify UHS.
Content Creation & Management (30%)
– Support creative concept ideation and asset creation, write and work with subject matter experts to ensure accurate key messages. Create content for social media, advertisements, and other outlets. Build and manage a comprehensive calendar detailing blog posts, newsletters, and social media.
Digital Presence & Website Maintenance (10%)
– Provide support for basic website updates, including content refreshes, event calendar additions, and maintaining the UHS blog.
Blog & Newsletter Coordination (10%)
– Source, write, and edit blog and monthly e-newsletter content with a professional and consistent brand voice.
Campaigns (10%)
– Support planning and implementation of UHS campaigns, including Utah History Month, Women’s History Month, and Civic Season.
Analytics (5%)
– Measure and understand key analytics (web, social media, newsletter). Compile and analyze data on social media performance and audience engagement.
Strategy (5%)
– Support the Marketing and Communications Director in building and managing an overarching communications strategy for UHS and larger marketing efforts for the Department of Cultural & Community Engagement.
Minimum Qualifications The ideal candidate is an experienced storyteller and communications generalist who can synthesize complex historical narratives into a unified, compelling brand voice. A proactive professional who can navigate the nuances of Utah’s rich history and culture while maintaining organizational oversight. Responsibilities include developing and managing a comprehensive, multi‑channel editorial and social media calendar that balances and amplifies the UHS mission across initiatives such as National History Day in Utah, Women’s History Initiative, Peoples of Utah Revisited, Libraries and Collections, Publications, and the Museum of Utah.
Demonstrated communication and social media experience, preferably in a cultural organization setting. Live experience and successful execution in previous roles are valued over a degree.
Excellent written communication skills; can turn complex ideas into clear, simple language. Editing, copy‑editing, and proofreading skills preferred.
Able to take initiative and prioritize tasks; excellent time management and respect for deadlines.
Understanding of social media trends, audience development, and data analytics; able to analyze data to make informed decisions.
Demonstrated ability to manage social media channels and utilize emerging marketing tools and techniques.
Creative thinker; eye for design and understanding of basic design principles and best practices.
Knowledge of WordPress, Emma, and Adobe Express.
Ability to assist in building and managing multimedia advertising campaigns.
At least three years of demonstrated experience in the marketing and communications sector.
Preferred Qualifications
Three or more years of relevant experience in communications, advertising, or marketing related fields.
