AI Product Specialist

REGAL, New York, NY, United States

ABOUT US Founded in 2020, Regal is the AI Agent Platform that equips companies to transform customer communications with AI agents. These agents integrate with data, are easy to customize and monitor, and are always available to take action. Royal’s founders, Alex Levin and Rebecca Greene, previously built Angi (Angie’s List, HomeAdvisor, and Handy) to over $1.5B in revenue. Based in Manhattan, Regal is building a culture of entrepreneurs who want to win and create meaningful products. The company is backed by top investors including Founder Collective, Homebrew, and Emergence Capital.

ABOUT THE ROLE The AI Agent Product Specialist is on the frontier of building the autonomous AI agents that will dominate business interactions in the next decade. After an intensive two‑week training program covering prompt engineering, function building, and the Regal Operating System, you'll write scripts and iterate on voice prompts and conversation flows. This entry‑level role is designed to launch a career in AI, with opportunities to move into engineering, product management, or customer success after 1‑2 years.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand customer requirements: collaborate with AI Forward Deployed engineers to capture use cases, business objectives, and existing agent documentation to inform agent design.

Shape conversational experiences: build agents on the Regal AI Agent Platform, tune settings for STT, LLM, and TTS, and deliver brand‑aligned interactions that meet customer goals.

Build custom functions/tooling: code solutions that extend LLM capabilities for specific actions such as zip‑code validation, callback scheduling, or profile updates.

QA test: develop test cases, conduct rigorous testing, and build tooling to scale QA efforts so customers can rely on agent quality without dedicating internal QA hours.

Iterate & learn: monitor agent performance with the forward‑deployed engineer and refine based on success criteria.

Codify best practices: document and share techniques, participate in internal forums, and produce digestible guides for internal and external audiences.

Deliver product feedback: work with PMs and engineers to report platform gaps, suggest enhancements, and accelerate agent performance.

Support sales demos: build AI agent MVPs during the sales cycle to showcase capabilities to prospects.

ABOUT YOU

Technical chops: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent prompt‑engineering experience.

Professional work experience: 1‑2 years of startup tech experience or substantial personal/school projects with documentation.

Curiosity for AI & voice: enthusiasm for Voice AI and ongoing engagement with the latest products and design experiments.

Analytical thinking & problem solving: ability to decompose problems, test new approaches, and iterate quickly.

Time‑management skills: prioritize competing tasks, meet deadlines, and keep stakeholders informed.

Relentless ownership: take accountability for outcomes, make smart trade‑offs, and ship on time.

Entrepreneurial DNA: thrive in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments, and adapt with a growth mindset.

AI PRODUCT SPECIALIST vs. AI FORWARD DEFINED ENGINEER – WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Product Specialists focus internally on platform use, best‑practice codification, QA, and feedback for the product and engineering teams, while Forward Deployed Engineers own customer‑facing deployments and ongoing success.

Product Specialists typically have 0‑2 years of experience; Forward Deployed Engineers usually bring 3+ years in a technical, customer‑facing role or product‑management experience.
