Social Media Producer
Jobcase, Inc., Woodbridge, NJ, United States
Strengthening and empowering all of the communities we serve.
NJ Advance Media
is looking for a
Social Media Producer
to help shape how our journalism and storytelling show up on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. This role is at the intersection of newsroom publishing and social-first content creation — packaging stories for social media reach, sourcing user-generated content, and experimenting with short‑form video that feels native to each platform.
Social platforms are often the first (and sometimes only) way audiences encounter our work. This role helps ensure we connect with people in smart, engaging, and responsible ways, while giving you real ownership and room to grow in a modern digital newsroom.
If you understand culture, sports, news, and internet trends — and you’re comfortable creating content and occasionally appearing on camera — this is a great place to grow.
The base salary range is $50,000 - $55,000 per year.
This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
What You’ll Be Doing
Produce daily feed posts and Stories for Facebook and Instagram
Source, vet, and secure permission for user-generated content from the community
Write accurate, compelling captions optimized for reach and engagement
Monitor trends, breaking news, and viral formats and adapt them quickly
Appear on camera when appropriate to film short‑form vertical videos
Track performance and use basic metrics to inform future content
Collaborate with reporters, editors, and video teams across the newsroom
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have The Following
0-2 years of experience creating content for social platforms (internships, freelance, or personal accounts count)
Strong understanding of Facebook and Instagram, especially Reels and Stories
Comfort communicating with users and creators for user-generated content
Sound news judgment paired with a social-native voice
Basic video editing skills on mobile
Comfortable on camera — or excited to become comfortable
Organized, curious, and eager to learn
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and/or weekends, as needed
Experience with short‑form vertical video (Reels, TikTok, Shorts) and familiarity with social analytics tools or dashboards will give you a head start
Interest in pro/college sports, news, or pop culture combined with a social portfolio that you’re proud of are a plus
