
Remodel Lead Carpenter

Westwood Custom is a luxury residential builder and remodeler based in Charlotte, NC. We specialize in high‑end renovations and custom homes with a strong emphasis on quality, communication, and execution. Our remodel projects demand craftsmanship, leadership, and accountability—and we’re looking for a Lead Carpenter who takes pride in all three.
Position Overview The Remodel Lead Carpenter is a working field leader responsible for executing carpentry work while also helping manage the day‑to‑day flow of remodeling projects. This role bridges hands‑on carpentry with leadership, coordination, and quality control.
You will work closely with the Project Manager and trade partners, lead by example on site, and ensure projects are built correctly, safely, and efficiently.
This is not a purely supervisory role—you will be on the tools regularly.
Key Responsibilities Perform high‑quality finish and rough carpentry including:
Framing modifications
Cabinet installs and adjustments
Punch‑out and detail work
Execute work to plans, specifications, and Westwood quality standards
Identify constructability issues and propose solutions early
Act as the on‑site lead for assigned remodel projects
Coordinate daily activities with trade partners and vendors
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite
Set expectations for quality, safety, and workflow
Quality Control Inspect work completed by trades and self‑performed carpentry
Catch issues early and address them before they compound
Assist with punch lists and final walkthrough preparation
Project Coordination Support Communicate daily progress, issues, and needs to the Project Manager
Help ensure materials are on site and staged correctly
Assist with scheduling installs and sequencing work
Participate in site meetings as needed
Client & Team Interaction Represent Westwood professionally in occupied homes
Communicate clearly and respectfully with homeowners
Support a positive, solutions‑oriented jobsite culture
Qualifications 2+ years of residential carpentry experience
Strong background in high‑end remodeling
Ability to read and understand construction plans
Proven experience leading or mentoring other carpenters
Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Ability to work independently and problem‑solve in the field
Preferred (Not Required) Experience working in occupied homes
Remodeling supervision or foreman experience
Familiarity with Charlotte / Mecklenburg County building standards
Comfort using basic construction tech (photos, notes, schedules)
