
Marketing & Communications Specialist – Internal Communications

The Marketing & Communications Specialist, leading internal communications is responsible for bringing our story to life for employees; connecting them to our strategy, reinforcing our culture, and ensuring they understand the impact of their work on our continued growth.
This role sits at the center of the organization, partnering across business leaders, HR, Technology, and the Skyward Foundation to deliver clear, consistent, and engaging communications. It’s an opportunity to help shape the employee experience at a high‑growth, people‑first and fast‑paced specialty insurance company.
Key Responsibilities
Execute internal communications strategy aligned to key enterprise Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), culture and priorities
Maintain an internal editorial calendar aligned to business priorities and key moments
Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and messaging across all internal channels
Lead communications supporting employee engagement initiatives, campaigns, and cultural moments
Contribute to employee storytelling, including external mediums such as blogs, social media and culture-focused content that reinforces what makes Skyward Specialty unique
Support communications for internship and scholarship programs, helping build a strong talent pipeline and employer brand
Support planning and execution of quarterly all staff meetings including content development, messaging alignment, and employee engagement strategies
Assist in developing leadership communications that connect employees to company performance and strategic priorities
Support creation of the Annual People Report including planning, content creation and creative, highlighting culture, talent, and organizational progress
Partner closely with HR, Benefits, Learning & Development to deliver clear, timely communications on benefits, policies, and employee programs
Support internal communications for Technology Shared Services (TSS)
Help effective change management to drive awareness and adoption of new tools and technologies across the organization
Partner with Skyward Foundation to develop effective communications for community outreach campaigns and events to drive engagement and increased participationOwn and manage Company intranet, ensuring it is a dynamic, go-to source for Company news and updates
Ensure content is timely, relevant, and engaging across channels
Manage department invoice processing with accuracy and timeliness
Oversee the company merchandise store, including inventory, ordering, and employee communications
Qualifications
3–5+ years of experience in internal or corporate communications
Ability to work a hybrid schedule in the Houston, TX corporate office
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail
Experience working cross-functionally in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment
Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint, Teams and other Office suite tools
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
Compensation & Benefits
The applicable base salary for this opportunity is $65,000 - $75,000. The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. In addition to the base salary, this opportunity may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
