Photojournalist – KTVN 2 News, Reno, NV
KTVN 2 News, a CBS affiliate, is looking for a Photojournalist. The right person will have an eye for photographic composition and video storytelling, and an understanding of good journalism and the ability to gather accurate information about stories. The candidate will work closely with news managers, producers, reporters, and other news photographers.
Responsibilities
Video photograph news stories using modern cameras and video equipment.
Edit stories for playback during newscasts and on digital platforms with crisp, clean sound.
Operate bonded-cellular and microwave live equipment.
Produce video for stories that engage the viewing area.
Use all tools of the profession to make news stories as compelling as possible.
Story Concept (5%), equipment maintenance (5%), video photography (60%), editing (25%), and live production (5%).
Qualifications and Requirements
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year in a TV newsroom (preferred).
Ability to operate modern video cameras, editors, and live equipment.
Be able to lift 40‑pound objects and handle camera equipment.
Make split‑second decisions in the field about how a news story should be covered behind the lens.
NOTE: This position may require long working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, due to the unscheduled nature of news.
