About the Role: The Associate Director of Marketing & Communications is a highly execution-focused leader responsible for driving the day-to-day marketing and communications efforts of Make-A-Wish North Texas. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role leads the development and execution of integrated campaigns that increase awareness, deepen donor engagement, strengthen community connection, and support fundraising growth, with additional support across other departments. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building, creating, writing, producing, managing projects, and moving work forward quickly and effectively. The ideal candidate is both strategic and operational — someone who can think critically, manage agency and vendor partners, and personally execute high-quality work across multiple channels. Success in this role requires urgency, initiative, creativity, strong judgment, and a deep commitment to accountability and results. This individual must be energized by a fast-paced environment, comfortable balancing multiple priorities simultaneously, and motivated by measurable impact. What you’ll do: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Execute integrated marketing and communications campaigns across digital, print, and earned media channels to support mission awareness, fundraising growth, donor engagement, and events. Develop and deliver high quality marketing assets including email campaigns, social content, digital promotions, print and electronic collateral, reports, advertising materials, presentations, and campaign messaging. Own and drive an integrated communications calendar that proactively advances organizational priorities, fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, events, and community awareness initiatives. Write and edit compelling stories, donor communications, profiles, impact narratives, and campaign messaging that effectively communicate mission impact and strengthen community connection. Translate audience insights and campaign goals into concrete, creative deliverables — testing new formats, channels, and approaches to improve engagement and results. Lead the execution of public relations activities in partnership with agency and media partners, including drafting media materials, managing press outreach, preparing spokespeople, and supporting interviews and event coverage. Collaborate closely with development and program teams to produce donor-facing materials that support acquisition, stewardship, retention, campaign growth, and fundraising performance. Analyze campaign performance and audience engagement data to optimize results, improve effectiveness, and strengthen donor acquisition and retention efforts. Maintain and update organizational websites and digital platforms to ensure content is accurate, timely, engaging, and aligned with campaign goals. Create and update visual content using graphic design software and other creative tools. Manage external agencies, freelancers, and production vendors with a high level of accountability, ensuring work is strategically aligned, on brand, on deadline, and executed with excellence. Lead a small but high-performing marketing and communications team, including staff, contractors, interns, and agency partners, while remaining deeply involved in day-to-day execution and production of work. Support the growth of the chapter through collaboration with all departments to broaden awareness, deepen engagement, and strengthen constituent relationships across audiences. Build and sustain strong, effective relationships with staff, board members, donors, volunteers, partners, media, and community stakeholders. Our Perfect Candidate Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or higher in business or related equivalent experience. 5 years’ minimum experience in communications and marketing. At least two years supervision/leadership experience. Preferred: Experience in lower funnel marketing. Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Outstanding interpersonal relationship building, employee coaching, and development skills. Strong understanding and comfort level in marketing, social media, and communications Superior written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage donors through the Make-A-Wish mission. Candidate must be a self-starter, initiative-taker, highly organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. Ability to effectively manage time and work priorities and multi-task. Superior presentation skills Extensive Salesforce (or other donor database software) experience required. Flexibility to attend events that may take place early mornings, evenings and weekends. Flexibility to travel when necessary. Ability to present a positive and professional image of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas. Must be able to work flexible hours beyond the normal schedule when necessary, including attending weekend and after-hours events. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a computer. Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines. Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision. Ability to work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently at the same time.
