Associate Director Biostatistics
Meet Life Sciences, Burlington, MA, United States
Job Advert — Associate Director / Director, Biostatistics (Oncology)
About the Role
We’re partnering with an innovative, fast-growing biotech company advancing cutting-edge therapies in oncology. As they continue to scale, they are seeking a hands-on Associate Director (or emerging Director) of Biostatistics to play a critical role in shaping clinical development strategy and building statistical excellence from the ground up.
This is not a “plug-and-play” role in a large, process-heavy organisation. It’s an opportunity for someone who thrives in a smaller, evolving environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to directly influence how a function grows.
What You’ll Do
Act as lead statistician across clinical programs, driving study design and analysis
Partner closely with clinical, regulatory, data management, and programming teams
Design innovative trial methodologies and author protocols and SAPs
Interpret and communicate data to inform decision-making and strategy
Contribute to regulatory documentation and interactions
Support and guide statistical programming activities (SDTM/ADaM)
Help build and refine biostatistics processes, standards, and infrastructure
Operate with a high degree of ownership in a fast-paced, collaborative setting
What We’re Looking For:
Must-Have
PhD in Biostatistics or related scientific discipline
Strong foundation in core statistical methods for clinical trials
Ability to apply statistical thinking flexibly across different problems
Experience in oncology drug development (hematology highly valued)
Confident communicator who can influence cross-functional teams
Comfortable working independently and hands-on
Nice-to-Have
Exposure to Bayesian methods and/or real-world evidence
Experience supporting regulatory submissions (not essential)
Ideal Profile
Currently at Senior Manager / Associate Director level, or a new Director still hands-on
Motivated by science and impact, not just title progression
Brings creativity, initiative, and confidence to shape a growing function
Thrives outside rigid structures and enjoys building rather than inheriting
Not overly reliant on large-company infrastructure or defined processes
Location & Working Model
Boston area (strong preference for local candidates)
Hybrid: typically 2–3 days onsite (Burlington area)
Flexibility week-to-week, but remote candidates cannot be considered
Why This Role?
Direct influence on clinical strategy and decision-making
Opportunity to build and shape biostatistics capability
Work in a highly collaborative, science-driven environment
Join a company at a stage where your impact is visible and meaningful
