
Senior Purchasing Manager

About the Role:
The Senior Purchasing Manager, also known as a Senior Procurement Manager or Strategic Sourcing Manager, leads end to end purchasing and procurement operations to ensure cost optimization, supplier performance, and supply continuity across a multi-site manufacturing and distribution network. This leadership role is responsible for sourcing strategy, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration to support operational efficiency and business growth. The Senior Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities: Lead and develop the purchasing and procurement team to execute strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier management programs Develop and implement category management strategies to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and long-term supplier partnerships to achieve cost savings and risk mitigation Oversee supplier selection, onboarding, and performance evaluation using KPIs such as cost savings, quality, and on-time delivery Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance to align procurement strategies with business objectives Manage procurement planning, purchasing cycles, and material availability to support production and customer demand Identify supply risks, supplier constraints, and market fluctuations, and implement mitigation strategies Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes, including automation, standardization, and spend analysis Oversee ERP system accuracy, purchasing data integrity, and reporting for procurement analytics and decision-making Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications: 7 or more years of experience in purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing or distribution environment Proven leadership experience managing procurement teams and supplier networks in a multi-site or global environment Strong expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and category management Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools, with strong analytical skills using Microsoft Excel and spend analysis platforms Demonstrated ability to drive cost reduction, supplier performance improvement, and supply continuity Experience managing KPIs such as cost savings, supplier performance, on-time delivery, and procurement cycle time Strong cross-functional communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
Desired Qualifications: CPSM, CIPS, or APICS certification Experience with global sourcing, supplier risk management, and contract lifecycle management tools Background in lean procurement, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies Experience working with international suppliers, contract manufacturers, or complex supply chains
