Horizontal Directional Driller – Telecommunications
Northern Florida (Jacksonville area) to Southern Alabama (Daphne region)
700,000 feet underground Telecommunication project
Our Client, specializes in underground telecommunications construction, is seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Driller to operate on a fiber optic drilling project in Northern Florida region.
The Horizontal Driller will be responsible for running Vermeer horizontal directional drill rigs and equipment supporting a major telecommunications infrastructure project. HDD Driller will work directly with the HDD Locator for guidance during drilling operations, working with Vermeer and unground Magnetics equipment.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
2+ years of Horizontal Drill experience required
Practical working experience with underground construction for both conduit and fiber installation
Ability to lift & carry up to 50lbs and repeatedly bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, and pull
Must work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
Able to perform work near power lines and electricity
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record – Class A or B CDL highly preferred
OSHA safety certifications and Operator qualifications a plus
Must be willing to travel; company provides daily per-diem
Responsibilities
Operate horizontal directional drill for installation of underground telecommunications cable conduit including fiber optic cable
Operate construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications
Vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified
Levels earth to final grade specifications
Measure distance from grade stakes, lasers, and GPS coordinates
Move and relocate RF and Fiber services
Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment
Perform proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment
Read utility locates and coordinate daylighting of facilities
Ensure all applicable permits are complete and on site
Set up and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control
Lead team in the field effectively and efficiently as needed and directed by supervisor
Perform daily equipment inspections and operator preventive maintenance checks
Schedule and Compensation Overview
Competitive hourly wage based on experience
Footage Incentive pay
Daily per-diem
Schedule is six (6) days a week, working ten (10) hour day (Typically off Sunday)
