About the Role The Senior Estimator is an experienced bidding professional who independently develops accurate, competitive estimates for complex commercial and industrialcoatingsprojects. This seat owns the full bid process for assigned projects from scope review through preconstruction handoff, mentors developing Estimators, and contributes lessons learned and production rate feedback that strengthen the Scott Coatings historical cost database.
What You Will Own
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs in Bluebeam from plans, specifications, and site visits.
Develop complete scope-of-work documents and price labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs accurately.
Complete the Scott Coatingspreconchecklist on every bid, including Bond Requests where applicable.
Maintain bid files in SharePoint per Scott Coatings naming and folder conventions.
Enter margins in PMS and Sage accurately and on time.
Participate in preconstruction handoff meetings with Project Managers and Superintendents.
Mentor and review the work of Estimators on assigned projects.
Contribute lessons learned input and production rate feedback to the Chief Estimator.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum 7 years of estimating experience in commercial or industrial painting and coatings.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage a full bid from takeoff through preconstruction handoff.
Proficientin Bluebeam. Bluebeam is the non-negotiable Scott Coatings takeoff standard.
Strong knowledge of coating systems, surface preparation, and application techniques.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, industry credentials (CPE, AMPP, PDCA), and estimating experience.
Preferred Qualifications
ASPE membership and progress toward CPEcredential.
AMPP coatings-specific coursework completed or in progress.
Experience with Pacific Northwest union labor cost structures.
Experience mentoring or developing junior estimators.
