About the Role
A global, private-equity-backed organization with significant international operations is seeking a Global Tax Director to lead and optimize its worldwide tax function. This role serves as the senior tax leader for the business, with responsibility for global tax strategy, international tax compliance, transfer pricing, and oversight of the global tax provision.
The role is hybrid, with the expectation of periodic in-person collaboration in the Raleigh area. While there is flexibility in office cadence, candidates must be Raleigh-based or willing to work locally. This position partners closely with Finance leadership and external advisors and is well-suited for a CPA with deep international tax experience who can operate at both a strategic and execution level.
Key Responsibilities – Strategic Tax Leadership
- Serve as the primary advisor to executive and finance leadership on global tax matters
- Develop and execute global tax strategy aligned with business objectives, growth, and cross-border activities
- Advise on tax implications related to acquisitions, restructurings, entity rationalization, and international expansion
Key Responsibilities – Global Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Oversee US federal, state, and international tax filings in coordination with external advisors
- Lead preparation and review of the global tax provision under ASC 740
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of tax-related financial disclosures
- Review tax-related journal entries and provide light general ledger oversight as needed
Key Responsibilities – International Tax and Transfer Pricing
- Own the global transfer pricing framework, including documentation and intercompany agreements
- Oversee international tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions using local advisors
- Monitor global tax developments such as BEPS and Pillar Two and assess business impact
- Support IP structuring and cross-border tax considerations tied to acquisitions and global operations
Key Responsibilities – Risk Management and Process Improvement
- Lead global tax audits and manage controversy matters
- Establish controls and processes to proactively identify and mitigate tax riskDrive improvements in tax processes, documentation, and scalability
- Partner with Finance, Legal, and external firms to modernize the tax function
Leadership and Team Oversight
- Lead and mentor a small global tax team, including offshore resources
- Maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors
- Foster a culture of accountability, rigor, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- CPA highly preferred
- 7 plus years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or multinational corporate environments
- Significant international tax and transfer pricing experience
- Strong working knowledge of US federal and state tax, international tax, and ASC 740
- Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
