Director of Finance Systems & Transformation

Job Purpose The Director of Finance Systems & Transformation is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the modernization, optimization, and governance of finance technology platforms across Herc Rentals. This individual will lead enterprise-wide finance transformation initiatives, partnering closely with senior Finance, IT, and Operations leadership to streamline processes, enhance data integrity, and deliver scalable solutions that support the company's growth objectives.

What you will do Finance Systems Strategy & Governance

Define and execute the long-term roadmap for finance systems, including ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle, OneStream, SAP, Hyperion or comparable systems), financial planning & analysis (FP&A) tools, and reporting solutions.

Serve as the primary business owner for all accounting and finance technology platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise IT strategy and leading acquisition system integrations.

Establish governance frameworks, data standards, and system controls to maintain data integrity and compliance.

Transformation & Process Improvement

Lead end-to-end finance transformation programs, including system implementations, upgrades, and process automation initiatives.

Identify and eliminate inefficiencies across the financial close, consolidation, and accounting reporting cycles.

Champion the adoption of automation, AI, and analytics tools to enhance finance team productivity and decision-making.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Partner with Accounting, Finance, IT, and Operations leadership to align finance system capabilities with organizational needs.

Manage relationships with third‑party vendors, system integrators, and consultants.

Present project status, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership and the CFO.

Team Leadership & Development

Build, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of finance systems managers, analysts, and project managers.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation within the team.

Define team goals, performance metrics, and development plans.

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure all finance systems and transformation activities comply with SOX, GAAP, and internal audit requirements.

Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with system changes and data migrations.

Collaborate with Internal Audit and Compliance teams on system access controls and audit readiness.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.

MBA, Master’s, CPA, or other advanced certification strongly preferred.

10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with at least 5 years in a finance systems, transformation, or technology leadership role.

Demonstrated experience leading large‑scale ERP implementations and finance system operations (Oracle, SAP, OneStream, Hyperion or equivalent).

Strong understanding of accounting processes including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and financial consolidation.

Proven track record of managing complex, cross‑functional projects on time and within budget.

Experience in a publicly traded company with SOX compliance requirements.

Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Experience with data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).

PMP or Six Sigma certification.

Knowledge of RPA (Robotic Process Automation), Alteryx, or other AI‑driven finance solutions.

$150,000 – $190,000
