Job Title:
Senior Estimator (Construction) Overview The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role plays a critical part in securing new business by analyzing project requirements, assessing risk, and developing detailed pricing strategies. The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with preconstruction, operations, and executive teams to ensure alignment from bid through project execution. Key Responsibilities Lead the full estimating process from initial review through final bid submission Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates Perform quantity take-offs and develop detailed scopes of work Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids Identify risks, gaps, and value engineering opportunities within project documents Develop conceptual and hard-bid estimates across multiple project phases Prepare and present bid packages, proposals, and pricing breakdowns to leadership Mentor and guide junior estimators and preconstruction staff Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients Support business development efforts, including client meetings and proposal strategy Maintain historical cost data and continuously improve estimating processes Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred) 7–12+ years of estimating experience within the construction industry Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and market conditions Experience with commercial, multifamily, industrial, or relevant project types Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Sage, On-Screen Takeoff) Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
