Job Overview
This role is essential for ensuring the engineering design and system performance of the radio frequency network meet operational standards. It involves supporting coverage, capacity, and performance planning while participating in the development and validation of radio frequency feature proposals. The role requires applying engineering principles to optimize network coverage, performance, and capacity, and may include leading engineering teams on projects. Success is measured by improvements in network key performance indicators and effective resolution of network issues. The work directly impacts network reliability and customer experience by maintaining and enhancing radio frequency system performance.
Job Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze radio network key performance indicators to identify and resolve performance issues
Design and optimize network coverage, capacity, and performance using established engineering principles
Develop, test, and validate radio frequency feature plans and support implementation guidelines
Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to troubleshoot network problems and update resolution databases
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to network deployment and zoning
Mentor associate engineers to support their technical development and knowledge growth
Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management as needed
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of related work experience OR combination of education and experience deemed equivalent (Required)
Acceptable areas of study include Engineering, Engineering Technology or an equivalent technical degree (Preferred)
2-4 years experience within the wireless industry optimizing and designing wireless communication sites (Preferred)
4-7 years experience working in and around the radio frequency industry designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting network issues (Preferred)
2-4 years experience with various drive test units (Preferred)
2-4 years experience with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) filings and zoning meetings (Preferred)
2-4 years experience analyzing data and creating coverage solutions (Preferred)
Strong hands‑on experience in 5G NR network optimization, including VoNR performance tuning, call flow analysis, and KPI improvement in a live network environment (Preferred)
Proven expertise with Nokia RAN (AirScale), including parameter tuning, feature activation, and troubleshooting for both data and voice services (VoLTE/VoNR), along with familiarity with Nokia OSS/tools (Preferred)
Ability to analyze RF performance metrics (coverage, capacity, interference) and drive end‑to‑end optimization, including site‑level audits, log analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure alignment with T-Mobile standards and policies (Preferred)
