Job Description Title:
Choir & Assistant Band Director
Qualifications:
Any such qualifications as deemed necessary by the Board to fulfill the duties of the job and as required by the State of Mississippi Department of Education.
Reports to:
High School Principal
Role Summary:
The basic role of the choir director & assistant band director is to provide leadership to the overall music program, as well as to manage and assist with the details necessary for a successful day to day program.
Dual-Role Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supporting the instrumental music program while leading or co-managing the vocal music program. This role requires a versatile and collaborative educator who can effectively work across both disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with band instruction, rehearsals, and performances; direct and develop the choir program; plan and coordinate concerts, competitions, and other musical events, ensuring students are well‑prepared and programs run smoothly.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with state and district standards, foster student growth in musical skills and performance, and promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential for success in this role.
