Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Proposal/Content Development & Business Development Support

Manage the development of proposals and qualifications in collaboration with the Director of Marketing, VP, Strategy & Development, and Business Development team

Write, edit, and maintain proposal and interview content that aligns with Erland’s voice, brand, and client expectations

Assist in shaping proposal messaging and positioning, contributing ideas that support overall win strategy

Prepare standard and customized qualification packages and interview materials in collaboration with internal teams

Proofread and QA technical and non-technical content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity across all submissions

Manage proposal schedules, internal deadlines, and submission requirements to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables

Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of boilerplate content, project descriptions, resumes, and differentiators

Conduct internal and external research to strengthen proposal responses and positioning

Interview internal subject matter experts to develop accurate and compelling narrative content

Track proposal status, follow up with internal teams, and communicate next steps

Evaluate pursuit outcomes and provide continuous improvement of Erland’s approach to proposals and pursuits

Identify industry, client, and competitor trends to strengthen future submissions

Marketing Operations & Coordination

Prepare and distribute weekly marketing status reports, capturing updates, deadlines, and action items from internal meetings

Lead the development, documentation, and ongoing refinement of Marketing Department SOPs to improve efficiency and consistency

Coordinate internal workflows to ensure deadlines are met and deliverables are executed accurately

Collateral Management & Brand Consistency

Maintain and update all marketing collateral, including project sheets, team resumes, one sheets, and lobby displays, ensuring information is accurate, current, and aligned with Erland’s brand

Manage printing, binding, and assembly of proposals and marketing materials for client-facing deliverables

Ensure marketing materials are organized, accessible, and consistently presented across all platforms

Perform proofreading, QA, and final checks on all collateral and marketing materials prior to distribution

Conduct brand compliance reviews to ensure all outgoing materials align with Erland’s visual identity and messaging standards

CRM & Data Management

Update and maintain the CRM (Buildr), including client contact information and company updates, working closely with Business Development to streamline data and analytics

Review email campaign performance, including managing email bounce-backs and ensuring database accuracy with a focus on KPIs and bringing in new business through these targeted efforts

Events & Industry Engagement

Plan, coordinate, and execute project milestone events such as groundbreakings, topping-offs, ribbon cuttings, and jobsite tours

Schedule and coordinate marketing support for industry events, career fairs, and partner programs (e.g., AGC MA, ISPE)

Partner with the Business Development Manager to plan and coordinate client events, including initiatives related to Erland’s 50th anniversary

Lead award submissions and track industry and safety award participation and results

Inventory & Administrative Management

Collaborate with internal team members to identify and prioritize promotional items that align with upcoming pursuits, events, and client engagement strategies; research product options, prepare cost comparisons, and recommend vendors and items based on quality, budget, and brand alignment

Manage inventory and ordering of marketing materials, promotional items, and office supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained and items are ordered proactively to support project and business development needs

Coordinate the production and distribution of branded materials, including trade show collateral, project‑specific items, and client gifts, while tracking timelines, managing vendor communication, and ensuring consistency with Erland’s brand standards

Market Research & Analytics Support

Research and stay informed on industry trends, including photography, videography, competitor marketing strategies, collateral, websites, and social media

Provide basic analytics support, including pulling social media metrics and other performance data as requested

Identify opportunities to enhance Erland’s marketing approach and contribute ideas for continuous improvement

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field

5–7+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the architecture, engineering, construction, or commercial real estate industry

Proven experience writing and producing high-quality proposals and marketing materials for prospective clients and projects

Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and execution

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop polished, client‑ready content

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline‑driven environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems; familiarity with Adobe InDesign preferred (Adobe Creative Suite experience is a plus)

Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive, team‑oriented mindset

Preferred

Experience managing proposal processes and collaborating with technical teams in the AEC industry

Experience supporting events, logistics, and business development initiatives

Familiarity with marketing operations, including collateral management and CRM maintenance

Basic understanding of social media platforms and analytics

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

The Marketing Specialist will play a key role in managing and executing Erland Construction’s marketing and business development efforts, with a strong emphasis on proposal development, content creation, and maintaining the accuracy and quality of marketing materials and systems. This individual will work closely with the Director of Marketing, Marketing Manager, and Business Development team to deliver high‑quality, client‑facing materials and support strategic pursuits.

This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented marketing professional with experience in the AEC industry who is passionate about producing compelling proposals and thrives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. A high level of attention to detail, ownership, and execution excellence are critical to success.

This position offers direct exposure to senior leadership, including Erland’s Director of Marketing and VP, Strategy & Development—both members of the company’s leadership team—providing valuable insight into high‑level decision‑making and pursuit strategy. The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to proposal messaging and help influence win strategies, with clear opportunities for growth and increased responsibility over time.

Salary Range
The anticipated base salary for the Marketing Specialist role is $65,000 - $90,000. Please note that base pay is only one part of Erland’s total compensation package. Your actual salary will be determined by your unique skills, experience, education, and specific qualifications. Because we stay competitive, our ranges are reviewed regularly against market trends and may vary by geographic location.
