Apex is seeking a Regular Part-Time Landscape Designer or Landscape Architect to join our Vancouver, Washington office. The landscape architecture team collaborates on a wide range of projects throughout Oregon and Washington, and the role involves assisting with design and technical development of projects across all project phases.

Qualifications

Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional office.

Well‑organized, proactive team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong desire to collaborate with engineers, architects, biologists, planners, and other specialists.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Land FX planting, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of Pacific Northwest native and ornamental plants and planting design.

Basic experience in building construction drawing packages and in preparing project specifications and cost estimates.

Responsibilities

Assist the landscape architecture team in design, drawing production, and project management support.

Contribute to complex projects from initial concept through completion.

Work effectively with multi-disciplinary project teams.

Prepare planting designs and construction documents with minimal oversight.

Develop project‑specific construction details while considering budget and constructability.

Perform site analysis and research product and plant sourcing.

Integrate sustainable design and construction methodologies into the work.

Maintain and help improve company standards, processes, and systems.

Contribute to proposals, presentations, and marketing efforts.

Desirable Skills

Prior experience with WSDOT, PBOT, and/or ODOT standards, specifications, and processes (including PS&E and design‑bid‑build delivery).

Knowledge of Central/Eastern Washington and Oregon planting design.

Knowledge of Rocky Mountain states’ planting design.

Knowledge of irrigation design.

Location
The position will be based in our Vancouver, Washington office. The team meets in office 3–4 days a week; we are flexible with partial hybrid hours but value in‑person collaboration.

Compensation
Annual Expected Pay Range: $52,500 – $66,000 USD.
