Job Summary Madison's most-watched news station, WMTV, has an immediate opening for an evening anchor/reporter.
Responsibilities
Contribute daily to elevating our team and newscasts.
Serve as an ambassador of the station, championing community initiatives.
Deliver evening broadcasts at 5, 6, 9, and 10 p.m.
Create and deliver content on streaming and traditional platforms.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and a high‑profile presence on digital media.
Adapt to evolving news formats and test new content approaches.
Work quickly, meet deadlines, multitask, and maintain composure during breaking news.
Carry 35+ pounds of gear and shoot and edit unique content.
Operate overnight, weekends, and overtime as required for breaking news and specialized coverage.
Qualifications
Minimum three years of newsroom experience.
A college degree in journalism or a related field.
Established and responsible presence on digital platforms (station website, social media, streaming).
Understanding of AP Style for digital platforms and broadcast writing for television.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, news judgment, ethical decision making, speed vs. accuracy, and integrity in reporting.
Strong work ethic, organization, and leadership skills.
Ability to work quickly, meet deadlines, multitask, and remain composed during breaking news.
Willingness to work long hours, overtime, weekends, and overnights as required.
Physical ability to carry 35+ pounds of gear, and experience shooting and editing.
Knowledge of MMJ is expected, with the option to partner with photographers on assignments.
