
Business Development Advisor

Primary Responsibilities (Initial Phase)
Client & Network Development
Develop and engage your personal and professional network to introduce financial planning conversations
Initiate outreach to warm contacts, centers of influence, and referrals
Schedule and coordinate introductory meetings for yourself and/or senior advisors
Participate in client meetings alongside experienced advisors
Support the preparation and follow‑up of client conversations
Begin to understand how financial plans are built across insurance and investment strategies
Professional Development
Complete required licensing (life, disability, securities as applicable)
Participate in Northwestern Mutual’s training and development programs
Build core skills in client discovery, communication, and relationship management
Progression to Financial Advisor
Transition from setting meetings to leading client conversations
Develop financial plans and make recommendations aligned with client goals
Build and manage your own client base
Operate as a Financial Advisor, providing holistic financial guidance
Qualifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Self‑motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset
Interest in financial services, planning, and long‑term client relationships
Ability to build trust and credibility within your network
