The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking a strategic and dynamic communications professional to lead our external communications, media relations, and public engagement efforts.
This role serves as the museum’s primary media contact and spokesperson, shaping how our story is told locally and nationally while advising senior leadership on messaging and reputational strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead media relations, PR strategy, and storytelling initiatives
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on communications and reputation
Build strong relationships with media and community partners
Lead crisis communications and support high-profile initiatives
Oversee media events and external engagement opportunities
Qualifications
7+ years in media relations, public relations, or communications
Proven success developing communications strategies and securing media coverage
Strong writing, storytelling, and relationship-building skills
Experience working with senior leaders and managing high-visibility communications
Salary Range: $85,490 – $96,129
