
Auto Body Technician (Flat Rate)

Auto Body Technician – VA Tappahannock (Position ID 160021)
Primary responsibility: providing an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle to restore it to pre‑accident condition. The technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles vehicles, playing a pivotal role in the company's promise of speed, quality, and customer excellence. Work is aligned with team members to achieve repair‑facility KPIs and serves as a Brand Ambassador of The Boyd Group.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers, using tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
Hammers out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage where possible; mix and apply filler resins to repair dents when other methods are not feasible.
Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
Remove damaged sections of vehicles and replace them with new or aftermarket parts; replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
Weld and otherwise attach or fit parts into place; prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or an agreed‑upon equivalent.
Attempt to complete work orders within labor‑time guidelines; ensure all work is executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Successful completion of a technical‑school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto‑body repairer.
Required Skills and Abilities
Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work collaboratively with other repairers in an auto‑body shop.
Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
Thorough understanding of how to use the tools required for the trade.
Other Requirements
Must work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
Must lift up to 30 pounds at times.
Must visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
Must bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
Physical Demands Ability to meet the physical demands outlined in job duties. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
Compensation $75,000+ annually, depending on flagged hours per week.
