Accountability Elder Board as Supervisor Church Body as Employer
Principle Function Provides leadership by creating a vision, setting goals, and overseeing the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive ministry for Mt.Olivet Church
Specific Responsibilities Church
Responsible for worship service in conjunction with the worship Elder
Bring message on Sunday mornings
Responsible for church bulletin and church calendar
Lead midweek Adult Bible Study
Mentor additional pastoral staff
Attend church committee meetings (Pastor is ex-officio member)
Church Council
Elder Board
Christian Education Executive Committee
Music Ministry Committee
Visitation (sick, aged, bereaved, shut-ins, inhospital or nursing homes, etc.)
Teach instructional classes as needed
Administer Baptism and Communion
Perform marriage ceremonies and child dedications
Conduct funeral services and follow up bereaved family several times
Assist the Elders in overseeing church office secretary
See Constitution for additional responsibilities (especially Article IX, “Duties of Officers”)
Community Services at Healthcare Center and Stony Brook as scheduled
Involvement with Huron Evangelical Ministerial Association
Member of James Valley Christian School Advisory Council
Qualifications 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9
Have a clear testimony of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ
Be committed student of the Word of God
Be a person of prayer
Have a servant‑leader attitude; be able to work as part of a team
Be dependable, loyal, creative, flexible, have a love for people, be loyal to the leadership and ministries of Mt. Olivet Church
Salary for Church Fiscal Year 2026 Salary $65,000–$85,000 depending on experience
Work Week Average 40 hour work week Flexible five days (Sunday being one day) Develop office schedule
General Information Pay Periods are the 1st and 15th of each month
The church will pay 80% of your health care costs
The church will make a 4% contribution of current salary to the retirement plan of your choice.
You will have a reimbursable account, up to $4000 per calendar year. This can pay for costs associated with your ministry, example; cell phone, mileage, materials, etc. To be reimbursed, you will complete an expense form monthly, which the Elders will approve and forward to the Treasurer for payment
BenefitPackage (per Church Fiscal Year) Participate in an annual Love Offering where church members have the opportunity to show their support
6 Holidays – New Years, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas
If a holiday falls on a regular day off or on a Sunday, the holiday time will be taken within the first week following the holiday.
Paid Time Off
Maximum of 4 Sundays per year 2 days per month accrued Maximum of 18 Days accrued Any Vacation Accruals will be paid out to employee upon separation
Time off to be approved by Elder Board prior to use
General Information Emergency Leave – Communicate with Elder Board for approval
Any secondary employment needs to be reviewed by the Elder Board to determine possible conflict with primary responsibilities
