Charles Schwab's Retail Strategy & Analytics is the internal management consulting group for the Retail business, which is the primary business unit at Schwab, responsible for $18B in revenue, and has 13,000 employees worldwide. Retail Strategy & Analytics serves as a trusted adviser to the head of the Retail business and the Retail Leadership Team and works on strategic, operational, and analytical issues at the top of senior management's agenda. Our team of roughly 40 professionals is a premier pipeline for diverse and high potential talent, and alumni include senior leaders across the entire firm. Retail Strategy & Analytics serves two primary functions: 1) Assisting with strategic decisions, operational, and business planning needs for the Retail Leadership Team.2) Supporting ongoing analytics and reporting needs for the Retail Leadership Team. This opening is for the Retail Strategy function. Typical projects include growth strategy, market assessment and entry evaluation, M&A and divestiture strategy, and operating model / organizational design.Opportunity Summary: We are seeking a Senior Specialist who will help shape plans for new initiatives and manage high priority strategy projects.
As a Senior Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:Support high‑priority strategy initiatives for Schwab’s Retail business, helping shape recommendations on growth, operating model, and business performance topicsPartner with senior team members to own analysis and discrete workstreams that inform senior‑level strategic decisionsExecute structured analyses for large, complex projects, applying both quantitative and qualitative problem‑solving approachesDevelop fact‑based strategic insights by synthesizing data, research, and stakeholder input into clear implications and recommendationsInfluence key strategic decisions through rigorous analysis and compelling storytellingWork across a broad range of strategic topics, building a deep and well‑rounded understanding of Schwab’s Retail businessCollaborate closely with cross‑functional partners, developing strong relationships and credibility across the organizationPresent insights and recommendations to senior leadership, gaining exposure to executive audiencesBuild a strong foundation for an impactful career at Schwab, with opportunities to grow strategic, analytical, and communication skillsBenefit from minimal travel and a hybrid work environment (will be expected to be on-site 4 days per week) What you haveApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship1+ years of full time work experience, preferably in management consulting, financial services, corporate strategy, analytics, or investment banking Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to: Gather and synthesize information through research and stakeholder inputStructure quantitative and qualitative analysesIdentify key insights and implications (“so what”)Translate analysis into clear, actionable recommendationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, well structured materials for senior audiences Ability to execute work independently or with guidance, across discrete workstreams or modules of larger projects Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working in cross functional teams High attention to detail, sense of urgency, and proactive working style Comfort operating in a fast paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities Working proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel Alignment with Schwab’s values and a strong interest in financial services and strategyPersonally and professionally aligned with Schwab’s vision and values, and a deep interest in financial servicesWhat’s in it for youAt Schwab, you’re empowered to shape your future.
