As a
Personal Lines Underwriter
at Berkley One, you will evaluate and underwrite new business risks with a strong emphasis on profitable growth and relationship management. This role involves significant decision‐making authority and collaboration across multiple teams to ensure high quality underwriting outcomes.

We’ll count on you for:
New Business Underwriting:
Focus on underwriting new business daily, leveraging expertise and sound judgment to select and price risks that align with Berkley One’s profitability goals.
Risk Management Collaboration:
Partner with risk management to assess exposures and recommend solutions that enhance the overall quality of the risk.
Innovation and Process Improvement:
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation in underwriting practices and organizational priorities.
Agent Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with a designated group of agents. Act as a trusted advisor by understanding their needs, coaching on solutions, and fostering loyalty to the Berkley One brand.
Appetite Consultation:
Educate agents on Berkley One’s risk appetite and guide them in applying this knowledge to appropriate risk selection.
Technology Utilization:
Use advanced underwriting tools and analytics to monitor portfolio quality and inform individual underwriting decisions.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Distribution and Marketing teams to co‑develop strategies that drive business growth and enhance market presence.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent professional experience
Industry Experience:
Minimum of two years of underwriting experience in high net worth personal lines.
Customer‑Centric Mindset:
Deep empathy for both insureds and agents and a passion for delivering an exceptional brand experience.
Strong Communicator:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style to different audiences and situations.
Composed and Organized:

Benefits
Base Salary Range: $75,000 – $130,000
Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
