Senior‑level commercial underwriting role for an experienced professional who can independently underwrite complex risks while acting as a technical and consultative resource. This position offers strong autonomy, agency interaction, and strategic influence within an assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
Independently underwrite and price
complex commercial risks
within established authority
Analyze financials, loss history, inspections, and market data to support underwriting decisions
Serve as a technical advisor to underwriting peers, sales teams, and agency partners
Build and maintain strong agency relationships and support complex negotiations
Manage territory portfolio performance and new business production
Monitor market trends and contribute to underwriting strategy and innovation
Mentor and share expertise to support team development
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; insurance designations (CPCU, ARM, etc.) preferred
3–8+ years of commercial underwriting experience , including complex accounts
Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills
Ability to operate independently with advanced underwriting authority
Willingness to travel regularly within assigned territory
