Responsibilities
Move trailers to and from unload/load doors and throughout the yard.
Load, unload, and sort packages by hand—including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and placing.
Perform trailer switches: hook and move parked trailers between the yard and doors.
Communicate with management and/or central control to coordinate trailer movements.
Document trailer moves using the Yard Management System (or switcher cards).
Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections on switcher equipment.
Understand and follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
Support package handling tasks, such as using hand‑to‑surface methods, loading/unloading packages onto trailers and conveyor carts, and sorting packages by scanning labels and using conveyor systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
No education required.
No experience required; six (6) months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand‑held scanners, chutes, and unloading devices.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work well in a fast‑paced team environment.
Job Conditions
May work in hot or cold temperatures.
May work in an environment with fumes.
May work in an area with loud noise.
Pay
$21.75 - $25.75 / hr
Preload: 2 am – 9 am
