Description Join our team at The Grand Bay Hotel, a beautiful gem in the heart of Redwood City!

We are looking for an experienced Director of Sales & Marketing to lead a high‑performing team that dominates all segments and markets. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring the hotel’s communication objectives, advertising, public relations, and revenue‑management strategies.

Responsibilities The Director will develop and execute a comprehensive business plan, ensuring effective sales, digital marketing, and revenue‑optimization strategies. Key duties include:

Directing solicitation efforts of the sales and catering team and overseeing rate, date, and space commitments for group, banquet, and catering customers.

Interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and, when necessary, recommending discipline for staff.

Ensuring regular training programs and standards of performance are met.

Providing guidance to staff and maintaining proficiency in brand channels, Cvent, wedding websites, and other tools.

Preparing reports on operations, including annual budget, business plan, monthly forecasts, pace reports, and weekly summaries.

Conducting ongoing research of the travel industry, detecting market trends, and developing new marketing strategies.

Representing the hotel at local organizations, such as Chamber and CVB, and participating in key community activities.

Delivering persuasive sales presentations to prospective clients and collaborating with digital and revenue teams on third‑party promotions.

Managing the computerized annual budget and business plan and adjusting plans as market conditions change.

Attending scheduled sales department and executive team meetings and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

3–5 years of experience in a similar position at a hotel.

Local market experience is a plus.

Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, sales, and closing skills.

Minimum of 4 years of full‑service hotel experience; experience in independent hotels is preferred.

For applicants in California, the anticipated compensation range is $180,000–$210,000 per year, depending on experience, education, and location.
