Scientist – Medicinal Chemistry
What you will do
In this vital role you will be part of an innovative Medicinal Chemistry group with responsibilities including design, synthesis, and purification of novel compounds for potential clinical drug development. This position is onsite at the Thousand Oaks, CA site.
Responsibilities
Work in teams to develop, implement, and perform organic reactions for ongoing Medicinal Chemistry projects, including troubleshooting synthetic routes and reactions, scouting new routes, and performing high‑difficulty synthetic chemistry.
Contribute to the design of new compounds and the development of structure‑activity relationships.
Perform structural determinations using NMR and mass spectral techniques and purify compounds using a variety of techniques.
Demonstrate leadership, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and lab safety practices.
Maintain laboratory notebooks, participate in group and project meetings, present to groups, and assist in writing papers and patent applications.
What we expect of you Basic Qualifications
Doctorate Degree
Master’s degree and 2 years of laboratory experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications
Track record of accomplishments (e.g., peer‑reviewed publications)
Demonstrated ability to scout and troubleshoot synthetic routes and perform high‑difficulty synthetic chemistry
Clear understanding of structural determination using NMR and mass spectral techniques and knowledge of purification methods
Demonstration of good lab practices with a particular emphasis on safety
Excellent communication skills (written and oral), leadership skills, and ability to work well in teams
