Assistant Superintendent

Overview
Oversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course and ensures that turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards.

Experience Required

Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or equivalent from a four-year, two-year college, or technical school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.

Three to four years of related experience and/or training.

Valid Driver's License required.

Pesticide Application License required.

Ability to read and speak English required.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred.

Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.

Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.

Essential Responsibilities

Work with the Superintendent to ensure the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.

Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.

Assist in planning, organizing, and directing maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.

Supervise planting and cultural practices for turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.

Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained.

Assist in procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.

Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with report preparation.

Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.

Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll, and other required documents.

Coordinate snow removal depending on facility location.

Ensure company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.

Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within regulations.

Manage department team members including mechanic, environmental technician, equipment operator, foreman, greenskeeper, and irrigation technician.

Provide effective orientation and training to new associates and develop ongoing training programs.

Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly for manpower, productivity, costs, and expenses.

Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
