Associate Director – Structured Finance – Abacus ratings

The Team Our team specializes in analyzing complex, non-traditional asset classes including transportation ABS, private equity, triple net lease properties, data centers, time-share, and whole business securitizations. The Impact As an Associate Director, you will drive the end‑to‑end rating process for complex esoteric ABS transactions, directly influencing capital market decisions and investor confidence. This role blends research and quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, client‑facing interactions, and project management. Your analytical expertise will shape rating outcomes through comprehensive cash‑flow modeling, credit assessment, and structural analysis under various economic scenarios. The Associate Director is expected to conduct credit rating committees and interact with bankers, issuers and investors on analytical matters. Furthermore, you will play an important role in improving our analytical tools and streamlining our processes by drawing on computer and data science skills.

Responsibilities
Complete the end‑to‑end ratings process for new issue and surveillance transactions
Perform cash‑flow analysis, synthesize results, and present findings in a timely manner in committees for esoteric assets, including transportation ABS, private equity, triple net lease properties, data centers, time‑share, and whole business securitizations
Analyze credit, cash‑flow, and performance characteristics of collateral pools; review third‑party model output and reconcile with cash‑flow results from internal models
Review legal and operating documents to ensure consistency with criteria and identify issues with the transaction structure; provide comments to external parties
Actively manage relationships with internal and external clients
Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and cash‑flow analysis and effectively handle clients’ analytical questions
Actively contribute to our training and outreach efforts, including the completion of timely commentaries, podcasts, and webinars
Lead and mentor junior team members, providing guidance on complex analytical matters
Take ownership of process improvements and contribute to the development of new analytical tools
Represent S&P Global Ratings at industry conferences and client meetings as a subject‑matter expert
All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week
What We’re Looking For Basic Required Qualifications
An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably within a Structured Finance Ratings capacity; prior work experience working with esoteric ABS or emerging asset classes and prior structured finance ratings experience is a plus
Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred. A master’s degree in financial engineering is a decisive asset
Strong proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with cash‑flow modeling for esoteric assets
Understanding of financial markets and structured finance principles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent research skills
Ability to analyze and solve complex, non‑routine problems with ingenuity in a timely and insightful manner
Project management skills and ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives
Ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines under time pressure
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team
Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience mentoring junior colleagues
Diligent and intellectually curious self‑starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed
Proven ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of cash‑flow modeling and programming languages (e.g. C++, MATLAB, Python, R or VBA)
Advanced Excel skills including VBA and complex financial modeling

Compensation/Benefits Information US Candidates
: S&P Global states that the anticipated range of compensation for this position is $142,100.00 to $183,884.00. Final compensation for this role will be based on the individual's performance, geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
Canadian Candidates
: S&P Global states that the anticipated range of compensation for this position is $147,900.00 to $175,000.00.
