Position Overview Seed Savers Exchange is a nonprofit organization based in Decorah, Iowa, dedicated to conserving and promoting America’s culturally diverse but endangered garden and food crop heritage for future generations.
Seed Savers Exchange is seeking an Integrated Designer (Digital & Print) to bring our brand to life across print, digital, and content platforms. This role is responsible for executing high-quality, consistent, and production-ready design across a wide range of applications—from our flagship Heirloom Seed Catalog and Heritage Farm Companion magazine to seed packets, plant sale materials, signage, web, and digital content.
This is a high-volume production role, creating and preparing a large number of print-ready assets annually. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and deep expertise in print production and file preparation.
The Integrated Designer works in close partnership with the Marketing & Communications Director and team to execute and help evolve the Seed Savers Exchange brand across all touchpoints.
Primary Role The Integrated Designer executes and supports the creative vision established by the Marketing & Communications Director across product packaging, catalog, marketing materials, and digital platforms. This role ensures that all visual and content-driven materials are cohesive, on-brand, and production-ready. This position collaborates across departments to bring products, storytelling, and marketing initiatives to life—balancing creativity with the practical realities of production, timelines, and volume.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Execute design and production for packaging, seed packets, plant sale materials, catalog, signage, marketing collateral, and digital content
Prepare high volumes of print-ready files with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail
Support and implement the marketing and brand strategy established by the Marketing & Communications Director
Work in close partnership with the Marketing & Communications Director on brand execution, catalog development, and seasonal themes
Maintain brand consistency across all materials, platforms, and physical spaces at Heritage Farm
Create layouts and design solutions based on established brand guidelines and production requirements
Collaborate with the Seed House team on product packaging, merchandising, and new product concepts
Coordinate and manage project timelines to support the production of printed and digital materialsPrepare and deliver final files for print, including prepress setup, color management, and troubleshooting production issues
Liaise with external vendors, including printers and production partners, to ensure quality and accuracy
Support content creation across formats, including social media, web, and podcast production (cover art, basic editing, publishing support)
Assist with product photography, photo shoots, and asset creation as needed
Contribute to visual storytelling across print and digital platforms
Communicate design needs, timelines, and asset requirements clearly across teams
Lead visual execution for marketing and communication materials
Follow established project intake and approval processes

Contribute to broader organizational goals through participation in fieldwork and/or order fulfillment during peak times
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time
Skills and Experience Required:
Strong design and production skills across print and digital formats
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop
Deep understanding of print production, prepress, file setup, and color management
Ability to manage high-volume workloads with strong organization and attention to detail
Experience preparing files for a variety of formats including packaging, catalogs, and signage
Strong time management and ability to prioritize across multiple concurrent projects
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
Ability to solve production challenges and adapt designs to technical constraints
Experience working with printers and external production vendors
Portfolio demonstrating both creative thinking and production execution
Preferred:
Experience with product photography and styling
Basic video or audio editing skills (Premiere Pro, Audition, iMovie, etc.)
Familiarity with social media platforms and content trends
Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and digital best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Art, Marketing, or related field
3–7 years of relevant design and production experience
