Position Summary The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate project cost estimates, supporting bid submissions, and collaborating with project management and operations teams throughout the preconstruction process.
Key Responsibilities
Review plans, specifications, and contracts to develop detailed cost estimates
Perform quantity take-offs for labor, materials, equipment, and overhead
Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and evaluate bids
Recommend subcontractor selections based on pricing and scope
Partner with project managers, architects, and engineers during preconstruction
Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities
Support estimating team consistency and mentor junior estimatorsTrack market trends, material pricing, and cost-saving opportunities
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Strong experience in construction estimating preferred
Proficiency in estimating software (Sage, ProEst, or similar)
Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Leadership experience and ability to mentor team members preferred
