Overview
A growing Dallas-based commercial construction contractor is seeking an experienced
Concrete Estimator
to join its preconstruction team. This role is best suited for someone with a strong background in concrete subcontracting who understands both field operations and estimating.
The company self-performs and manages a wide range of concrete scopes across commercial, retail, and industrial projects and is expanding its estimating capacity to support increased project volume.
Project Types
Retail and Commercial site flatwork
Structural and foundation packages
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for concrete scopes of work
Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
Analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing
Review project documents to ensure accurate scope coverage
Collaborate with project management and field operations teams
Support bid strategy, pricing development, and value engineering
Maintain and update historical cost data for future estimating accuracy
Participate in pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits
Required Experience
5+ years of experience in concrete construction
Background with a
concrete subcontractor or self-performing contractor
strongly preferred
Experience in estimating, project management, or project engineering
Strong knowledge of commercial concrete, flatwork, and tilt-up systems
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Understanding of production rates, sequencing, and field operations
Proficiency with estimating tools and Excel
Preferred Background
Field experience as a foreman, superintendent, estimator, or project manager
Experience on commercial, retail, or industrial concrete projects
Strong understanding of subcontractor pricing and trade coordination
Familiarity with fast-paced or design-build environments
Ideal Candidate
