General Function Selected candidates will become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4–8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. Upon completion, a certification will be awarded to demonstrate the necessary skills for the Retail Personal Banker role. This position focuses on using the consultative sales process to identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects, acquiring new households, and deepening existing relationships through activities such as lobby leadership, aisle time, and tele‑consulting. Responsibilities also include processing teller transactions and supporting the platform staff. The role carries risk responsibilities, ensuring compliance with policies and driving a positive customer experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build thorough customer profiles and identify current and future financial needs.

Maintain in‑depth knowledge of retail consumer and small business products and recommend appropriate solutions.

Utilize CAMP and other marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for periodic financial reviews.

Focus primarily on cross‑selling to the existing customer base and engaging in outside sales activities such as Membership Advantage presentations, business sales calls, and community financial literacy events.

Establish close working relationships with assigned Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial and Investment) and refer customers for holistic solutions.

Consistently meet or exceed customer experience and production goals, enhancing year‑over‑year revenue growth as measured by the Financial Center P&L.

Provide guidance to CSRs regarding the sales and referral process.

Promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful demeanor and professionalism.

Answer customer questions confidently and own customer issues.

Maintain confidentiality of all business information.

Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and related policies, maintaining ethical behavior at all times.

Adhere to policies and procedures while opening and servicing the full range of retail products.

Participate in the consumer loan and bankcard process, owning sourced loans from application through closing.

Participate in the opening/closing process of the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.

Keep up to date on procedures to mitigate fraudulent activity and prevent unnecessary risk or exposure.

Supervisory Responsibilities None.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

College degree or equivalent work experience providing transferable skills.

Preferred experience in the financial industry.

Demonstrated ability to develop comfort with sales activities designed to acquire new consumer households and small businesses, or cross‑sell to existing customers.

Ability to demonstrate understanding of advanced math functions for analysis of credit and financial information.

Professional representation in appearance and verbal/written communication.

Working knowledge of retail policies and procedures and sound judgment in decision making.

Requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). The NMLS website provides the MU4R questions and registration required for this position.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment.

Extensive computer screen viewing.

Program requires ability to travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.

Travel outside the affiliate for various classroom training sessions.
