Job Description Okoboji CSD is searching for a JH Girls Wrestling Coach to lead our JH Girls program for the 2026‑2027 season and beyond. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the sport of wrestling and coaching experience while promoting a positive and competitive environment. Coaches are expected to run practices that will develop skills necessary in the sport while building a positive culture built around effort and teamwork.
Coaching Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the JH Girls Wrestling program.
Develop and implement effective practice plans and game strategies.
Promote a positive culture that aligns with the mission of the Okoboji CSD.
Support student‑athletes’ academic and personal growth.
Manage program logistics including equipment, scheduling, and communication.
Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and IGHSAU & IHSAA regulations.
Promote the athletic program for purposes of increasing interest and participation.
Prepare areas used for practice and game use.
Accompany and supervise students.
Advise students and parents on the athletic code of conduct, including consequences for violation, and coordinate with the Activities Director in instances of possible violations of the code of conduct.
Maintain inventory of uniforms and equipment within the program.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid coaching license through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of the season.
Previous experience as a coach, preferred.
Strong knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, instruct, and supervise students, athletes and a coaching staff.
Ability to work under pressure.
Proficient in organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
