Position Summary
The Superintendent oversees and manages day‑to‑day field operations of masonry and concrete projects from pre‑construction through final closeout, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and with the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
– Oversees and coordinates masonry and concrete projects from start to completion, plans daily and weekly activities, ensures alignment with contract specifications and drawings, monitors progress, and collaborates with stakeholders to meet milestones.
Crew & Subcontractor Management
– Directs and supports craft workers, foremen, and subcontractors; leads and supervises on‑site crews; schedules labor and equipment; conducts daily briefings; monitors performance; resolves conflicts; and fosters a positive work environment.
Quality Control
– Inspects work for compliance with standards and specifications, ensures all work meets architectural designs, identifies and resolves quality issues, coordinates inspections, and verifies that masonry and concrete work meet quality standards.
Safety & Compliance
– Enforces OSHA and company safety policies, conducts safety briefings, maintains hazard‑free job sites, and investigates and documents incidents.
Scheduling and Coordination
– Coordinates with other trades and subcontractors to avoid scheduling conflicts, and adjusts project schedules for weather, supply‑chain delays, or unforeseen challenges.
Technical Expertise
– Interprets blueprints, schematics, and construction documents; provides technical solutions to construction challenges; implements advanced masonry and concrete techniques to optimize efficiency and quality.
Cost Management
– Minimizes waste by managing materials and resources, and approves and tracks daily labor and material usage.
Communication
– Maintains clear and frequent communication with project managers, clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders; provides daily logs, reports, and updates; represents the company professionally.
Documentation & Reporting
– Maintains accurate records of project progress, safety incidents, crew attendance, manpower, equipment usage, materials, RFIs, and submittals; prepares daily and weekly field reports; addresses change orders and punch lists.
Equipment and Materials
– Manages delivery, storage, and maintenance of masonry and concrete tools and equipment; ensures proper handling and use of specialized materials.
Problem Solving
– Anticipates and resolves field challenges, coordinates changes, and works through constructive solutions.
Qualifications
Extensive masonry and concrete construction experience, with the ability to interpret blueprints, understand technical specifications, and solve field challenges using industry‑standard methods and materials.
Proven leadership in supervising crews and subcontractors, directing daily activities, maintaining productivity, and fostering a safe, collaborative job‑site culture.
Strong project management capabilities: planning daily/weekly work, coordinating with other trades, adjusting schedules, and ensuring all work aligns with drawings, specifications, and project milestones.
Commitment to safety and quality, with working knowledge of OSHA requirements, site safety practices, inspection coordination, and identification/correction of workmanship issues.
Solid administrative and documentation skills: tracking labor, materials, equipment, RFIs, and change orders, and preparing accurate daily/weekly reports using basic digital tools.
Clear, professional communication skills for collaborating with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients, providing updates, resolving issues, and representing the company effectively.
