Job Summary:
Underwriting Manager with responsibility for all aspects of cyber underwriting management within our Small Business segment – including cyber, tech E&O, and MPL
Key Responsibilities
Lead underwriting management for Small Business within Cyber Risks regarding:
Underwriter Guidelines
Pricing
Risk selection tools
Training
Admitted rate plans
Data analytics
Digital trading systems
Underwriting exposure limits and sublimits
Analyse product underwriting performance data such as quote/bind/referral/decline rates, and propose adjustments to portfolio management and risk selection to drive profitable growth.
Work closely with the pricing actuary and Cyber Data Science and Analytics to monitor the portfolio and suggest corrective measures as required to enhance the profitability.
Liaise with other Beazley central assurance teams – compliance, risk management, and internal audit; to ensure continuity of SME underwriting business plan delivery whilst effectively controlling and reporting enterprise risk.
Support the Head of Global Cyber Digital Risks on implementing the SME strategy and roadmap
Participate in media opportunities and thought leadership/marketing as required
Participate in the cross functional team delivery model by contributing to Underwriting process design, digital technology delivery and development of operational support within the division.
Personal Specification We are seeking an individual with deep technical expertise across cyber, technology E&O, and MPL products, with strong grounding in portfolio management, coverage structures, compliance considerations, and pricing or actuarial approaches. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on underwriting or underwriting management experience, with a comprehensive understanding of underwriting philosophy, policy wording, and risk selection frameworks. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in both manual and digital trading environments and will have experience designing, implementing, or enhancing underwriting processes, systems, and tools. An analytical mindset and the ability to interpret data to inform underwriting, pricing, and system decisions is essential to achieving profitable growth. We are looking for someone who combines commercial judgment with strong financial and operational awareness. Excellent communication skills—written and verbal—are critical, as the role requires regular interaction and influence across a broad range of seniority levels and functional areas. Experience developing, mentoring, or guiding underwriting teams will be valuable, alongside a proven ability to collaborate effectively, embrace change, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
