Job Summary
As a Produce Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring our customers have access to fresh and high‑quality fruits and vegetables. Your responsibilities include stocking produce items, maintaining the cleanliness of the produce department, and assisting customers with their produce selections. You will help provide a positive shopping experience and promote healthy eating habits.
Responsibilities
Stock and replenish produce displays, ensuring items are attractively presented and rotated to maintain freshness.
Assist customers with their produce selections, providing information on product availability, pricing, and storage tips.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the produce department, including cleaning shelves, displays, and work areas.
Receive and inspect incoming produce shipments, checking for quality and freshness.
Remove damaged or expired products from displays and properly dispose of them.
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and participating in periodic inventory counts.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the safety and quality of produce items.
Collaborate with team members and department managers to achieve department goals and provide excellent customer service.
Knowledge
Knowledge of a variety of fruits and vegetables, including seasonal availability and storage requirements.
Basic understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
Skills
Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure accuracy in stocking and displaying produce items.
Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills for assisting customers and providing helpful information.
Organization: Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Abilities
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
Adaptability: Flexibility to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle various tasks as needed.
Teamwork: Collaboration with coworkers to achieve department goals and provide excellent customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a retail or customer service role is advantageous.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
