As an Estimator with Prince Contracting, you will play a crucial role in preparing project estimates by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost‑effective quantities and construction methods align with pursuit, schedule and price goals.
For the past 40 years Prince Contracting has been a civil construction leader across Florida. Specializing in highway, heavy civil construction & site development, we self‑perform the majority of our work and are committed to delivering quality projects through both conventional and innovative methods. Resulting in the completion of hundreds of highways, roads, and bridge projects for satisfied clients.
What you will be doing
Prepare detailed estimates for heavy civil roadway projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Ensure estimates are accurate, timely, and aligned with project specifications.
Analyze project plans, drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine the scope of work and develop an understanding of project requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to prepare comprehensive bids and proposals for various roadway construction projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and codes.
Perform quantity takeoffs from project plans, including roadways, bridges, grading, utilities, and other infrastructure components.
Solicit quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors, and assess their pricing and capabilities. Maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost‑effective procurement of materials.
Assist in the development of project budgets and provide ongoing cost analysis and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor actual costs against estimates and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Identify potential risks and challenges within the project scope and budget and provide recommendations for mitigating these risks.
Maintain clear, organized records of all cost estimates, proposals, bid documents, and project changes. Provide regular status reports to project managers and senior management.
Work closely with internal teams (engineering, design, project management) and external stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, vendors) to ensure all project requirements are understood and met.
What we are looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.
1+ years of experience in civil construction industry, estimating or cost control preferred.
Beginner knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
Developing technical writing skills.
