Summary The Ocean Export Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Ocean export team to ensure that all shipments are processed accurately and timely in accordance with customer requirements and company policies. This position involves supervising and coordinating the activities of a team of air export coordinators, communicating with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders, resolving issues and providing excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of Ocean export coordinators to ensure smooth and efficient operations
Monitor and manage the flow of export shipments to ensure compliance with customer requirements and company policies
Communicate with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of shipments
Resolve issues related to shipments, such as delays, damages, or customs clearance problems
Ensure that all documentation is accurate and complete, including commercial invoices, and other export documents
Provide excellent customer service and ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including customs regulations, export controls, and hazardous materials regulations
Participate in the development and implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency and quality of service
Educational background / Work experience
A bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics, international business, or a related field is preferred. However, equivalent experience in the transportation and logistics industry may be considered.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of ocean export operations, documentation, and regulations
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and/or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible for supervising a team of ocean export coordinators, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Preferred Qualifications
A master's degree in transportation, logistics, international business, or a related field
Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management, such as Certified Logistics Professional (CLP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
Experience in project management or process improvement initiatives
Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools, such as CargoWise or Cargospot
Language skills
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Computer Literacy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is required.
Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and/or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is preferred.
Compensation The expected base pay range is $64,000 - $86,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
