Job Description AECOM'sWest Region Strategic Communications Group is looking for a
Community Engagement Specialist II
to assist on public involvement and community outreach projects. This will be a hybrid position based in Phoenix, AZ.
Job Responsibilities
Engages and informs stakeholders, communities, and residents on public or private projects in-person and/or virtually, or through written materials.
Collaborates with Project Managers on strategies, best practices, and potential risks associated with engaging stakeholders for input on projects.
Contributes to the development of communications strategies and delivery plans.
Develops themes, core messages and collateral for multiple audiences and stakeholders, including digital users, the media, local communities, statutory bodies, technical groups, and elected representatives.
Identifies and maps key stakeholders and social profiles for client projects.
Implements engagement strategy and communications plans, including meeting organization and facilitation.
Oversees logistics for public events and meetings as well as evaluating and selecting venues and vendors.
Develops presentations for meetings with various stakeholders within a client’s brand guidelines.
Provides acute attention to detail in the development and tracking of stakeholder and public communications.
Manages stakeholder and community feedback and monitors communications channels.
Drafts content for e-newsletters, surveys, stakeholder communication, fact sheet and exhibit content, and other materials as needed for QC review by the Project Manager.
Coordinates with other AECOM staff to prepare graphic displays and layouts for public information.
Prepares summary reports for documentation of stakeholder meetings and public events, to include analyzing public feedback and writing up engagement findings.
Communicates with clients, as needed.
Exercises sound judgment when communicating with internal and/or external clients or customers.
Works on community engagement and communication activities and campaigns with little supervision and within budget.
Other tasks as directed by the client directly and/or Project Manager to support public involvement during the planning and construction phases for projects underway in the community.
Qualifications BA/BS + 2 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications with 2 + years of Public Relations and/or Community Engagement experience.
Experience working in or supporting the transportation engineering/construction industry.
Experience with or enthusiasm for learning new tools that enhance virtual collaboration and communication with stakeholders and the public for surveys, focus groups, websites, social media, etc.
Familiarity with the Adobe suite of tools and ability to assist in the preparation of graphics and layouts when needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with various departments and levels within company.
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
