
Director of Finance

The Director of Finance is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the financial accounting and reporting activities of the Owensboro Catholic Schools (OCS).
Minimum Qualifications Education, Training, Abilities, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
Practicing Roman Catholic preferred
Five to seven years of professional accounting experience preferred
Knowledge of non-profit accounting
Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices, accounting principles, investments, and financial reporting
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Working knowledge of information technology, including personal computers and Microsoft Office Software
Ability to professionally maintain confidential information
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees all financial operations for OCS, including budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and risk management to maximize growth
Manages cash flow to ensure continuity of operations
Spearheads the development of tuition rates annually
Prepares reports for Pastoral and Financial Advisory Committees
Collaborates with leadership to solve problems, mitigate risks, and finalize decisions
Enforces investment guidelines to maximize distributions from endowments and investment accounts
Remains up to date on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), especially as it relates to non-profits, to resolve complex accounting issues
Performs internal audit procedures throughout the fiscal year
Provides a variety of financial analyses as needed for the leadership team
Clearly communicates pertinent information to committee members responsible for the allocation of resources for tuition assistance
Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Education Officer
The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check and complete Safe Environment training for the Diocese of Owensboro before employment can be granted.
Full-time employees are eligible to receive a 50% tuition discount and a 35% After School Program discount.
